Aloha!

From our engagement session at Ko'Olina
So to be completely honest, I started this blog a couple years ago and managed to keep it up for a whopping 10 or so posts.  In an effort to better keep in touch with friends and family and hopefully indulge them in some of my Hawaii happenings I've decided to resurrect this little blog of mine.

Let me start with a quick recap...Josh (my fiance) and I just moved to the island of Oahu in June 2013 with our crazy 1 year-old, English Springer Spaniel, Bentley where we'll be living for the next 3 (maybe 4) years while Josh completes his residency in internal medicine.

One way ticket to paradise!

We spent the first 2 months camping out in the Army hotel located just up the hill from the Tripler Army Medical Center.

View from the hotel.  Tripler is the pink building to the right.

Bentley enjoying the Tripler Lodge lanai.

As long as there were sticks, Bentley was happy!

After we were kicked out of the Tripler Lodge we spent another month and a half crashing at Josh's buddy's house who graciously took us in while we anxiously awaited the close of our own house.
Bentley was right at home in Greg's linen closet.
We finally sealed the deal on a house in September on the windward side of the island in Kailua (just a quick walk to the beach!).  As soon as we got a closing date, I quickly called the movers and we were finally reunited with all our "junk" after 3 months of living out of a suitcase!

The house has a fenced in yard...Bentley approves!

We gave ourselves a good month in the house "as-is" before we started tearing it apart in October.  It's been 2 months and we've successfully torn down a wall, ripped down the ceiling, raised the ceiling, started putting down new flooring throughout and we're slowing in the process of putting it back together.  Fun times! Our house is a disaster but we're making due.

And then the ceiling came down....

We're in the process of putting it back together.

Slowly but surely making progress.
Hopefully getting back into blogging will help me document our journey so we have a fun way to look back on our experience while also keeping everyone else on the mainland up-to-date with our happenings.  (It also doesn't hurt that I just got a new digital SLR camera for my birthday to help keep me motivated to share!)
